Vol. 537 No. 3

Written Answers. - Medical Cards.

Pat Carey

Ceist:

153 Mr. P. Carey asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11 is being asked to pay £70 to a consultant in respect of a bone density scan although she is a medical card holder. [16187/01]

Investigative tests required by medical card patients as part of a prescribed protocol for ongoing treatment are covered by the medical card.

Given that the person concerned is in the Dublin area, I have referred this particular case to the Eastern Regional Health Authority and asked that it has the matter investigated and that it reverts directly to the Deputy.
