181 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if, in relation to the 25,000 total authorised housing starts under the multi-annual housing programme 2000-2003, he will state the number of these dwellings which have been completed; and the number under construction. [16138/01]
The local authority multi-annual programme provides for 25,000 starts for the period 2000 to 2003. The number of starts, including acquisitions, achieved by local authorities in 2000 was 5,079. These starts would include some authorised starts which would have been carried forward into 2000 from previous years. Most of the houses started in 2000 will be completed this year or in early 2002. The number of local authority houses completed or acquired in the first quarter of 2001 is around 800. A breakdown of these completions by local authority area will be included in the March quarter Housing Statistics Bulletin which will be published shortly.
182 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will list, for each housing authority, the number of new local authority dwellings completed for each of the years 1997 to 2000; and the breakdown of these completions by reference to that authority's annual housing programme for each of the years from 1995 to 1999 and 2000-2003. The number of dwellings completed-acquired by local authorities for each of the years 1997 and 1998 is set out in table 1 as follows. Details for 1999 and 2000 are published in my Department's Annual Housing Statistics Bulletin, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library.
The numbers of authorised starts in the local authority housing construction-acquisition programme for each of the years 1995 to 1999 and the four year multi-annual programme for 2000-2003 is set out in table 2.
