Vol. 537 No. 3

Written Answers. - Health and Safety Inspections.

Noel Ahern

Ceist:

108 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of occasions the national Health and Safety Authority has inspected working conditions in a company (details supplied); if the fumes extraction system has been checked in all main centres; if they have been given approval; if a safe level of vehicles per hour has been agreed; if she will report on pollution findings; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [16311/01]

The national authority for occupational safety and health, known as the Health and Safety Authority, is the State body with responsibility for the administration, monitoring and enforcement of occupational health and safety legislation. The carrying out of inspections at places of work is a day to day matter for the authority in which I have no function.

I have, however, arranged that the matters raised by the Deputy in his question be brought to the direct attention of the authority.
