Vol. 537 No. 5

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Ceist:

287 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the fact that in-patients in St. James's Hospital must travel to seven agreed centres for an MRI scan rather than obtain this procedure within St. James's Hospital. [16559/01]

Responsibility for the provision of hospital services, including MRI services at St. James's Hospital, rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority. My Department has asked the regional chief executive of the authority to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly.

Question No. 288 answered with Question No. 286.
