Dedicated funding for waiting list procedures of £34 million was allocated in 2000 to health agencies to enable hospitals to carry out waiting list procedures and I am pleased to inform the Deputy that £34.5 million has been indicated to health agencies under the waiting list initiative for 2001. It is my intention to pursue continual reductions in waiting lists and waiting times for hospital treatment in 2001.

332 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has satisfied himself that files for patients at the Regional Hospital Tralee are still being stored in Cork; the proposals he has to keep the files in Tralee in order that they are available to the medical people immediately they are required; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16814/01]

Ceist:

333 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Health and Children the operating and out-patient clinic which have been made available to a temporary general surgeon, third post, arising from parliamentary Question No. 333 of 20 March 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16815/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 330 to 333, inclusive, together.

The Deputy will be aware that the provision of services at Tralee General Hospital is, in the first instance, the responsibility of the Southern Health Board.

I have, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the board to look into the issues raised by the Deputy and reply directly to her.
