Vol. 537 No. 5

Written Answers. - Medical Practitioner Cover.

Ceist:

368 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for Health and Children the way in which it is possible that a community of 1,000 houses, (details supplied) in Dublin 24 does not have recourse to a general practitioner to service the medical needs of this area; if his attention has been drawn to this matter by the Eastern Regional Health Authority; the action he proposes to take in respect of this case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17166/01]

The provision of adequate medical practitioner cover for the area specified by the Deputy is the responsibility of the chief executive officer of the South Western Area Health Board of the Eastern Regional Health Authority. I have referred the matter to the board for investigation and will revert to the Deputy as soon as the reply is to hand.
