It would be open to Waterford County Council and Waterford Corporation to seek funding for this road project under the EU co-financed specific improvement grants scheme when applications for 2002 are sought by my Department later this year.
Waterford County Council's non-national road grant allocation for 2001 of £6.881 million is a 23% increase on the 2000 allocation and a 70% increase compared to 1997. Waterford Corporation's non-national road grant allocation of £2.125 million in 2000 is a 26% increase on the 2000 allocation and a 229% increase compared to 1997.
