Ceist:

483 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he has received from the solicitors representing a person (details supplied) in County Cork, a copy of a submission made to the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland alleging illegal activities of Royal Ulster Constabulary undercover operatives here; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16794/01]

Ceist:

484 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the fact that Royal Ulster Constabulary undercover officers are working within this jurisdiction as stated in an affidavit sent to the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland by legal representatives of a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [16795/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 462, 483 and 484 together.

I have not received a copy of any submission made to the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland in this matter. A copy of a letter written to my colleague, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, by solicitors acting for the person in question was forwarded to my officials. Having consulted the Garda authorities, I am advised that they are not aware of a submission or affidavit made to the Police Ombudsman in Northern Ireland.

If the person concerned or his solicitors have any information on matters affecting crime or security in the State, they should contact the Garda authorities.
