Ceist:83 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Education and Science the proposals his Department is considering in relation to the payment of teachers for supervision; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17114/01]
Written Answers. - Teachers' Remuneration.
The issue of supervision and substitution is currently the subject of discussions between officials from my Department, the Department of Finance, the Teachers Union of Ireland and the Irish National Teachers Organisation, under the aegis of the Teachers Conciliation Council. The Association of Secondary Teachers of Ireland decided not to participate in these discussions.
As issues before the Teachers Conciliation Council are a matter solely for the council, it would not be appropriate for me to make a statement on this matter at this time.
