559 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science the status of the document, Evaluation of Options for the Development of Third Level Education in County Wexford, Final Report, November 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16758/01]
I understand the document referred to is the report commissioned by Wexford County Council and prepared by Peter Bacon and Associates, entitled County Wexford: A Strategy for Economic Development. This report is being considered in the context of my plans to strengthen the education base in regions which are not well served at present and to establish effective links with higher and further education institutions. My intention is to address the related problems of non-completion of second level education and low participation rates in higher education, which is one factor identified in the report as hampering development in County Wexford.
