Vol. 538 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Recognition.

Nora Owen

Ceist:

218 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will give recognition to a gaelscoil (details supplied) in County Dublin which has been operating for at least one year and will have 60 pupils next school year. [17383/01]

The school in question received provisional recognition as a primary school with effect from September 1999 and an application for permanent recognition was received in September 2000. The application is currently under consideration in the planning and building unit of my Department. As part of the examination of the application, factors such as the future viability of the school, current and projected enrolments and the suitability of accommodation must be considered. A decision on the school's application will be taken as soon as possible and the Board of Management will be notified.
