Ceist:29 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Defence when legislation to provide for the modernisation of the Civil Defence is expected to be published; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18319/01]

The new Civil Defence Bill has been included in the list of priority legislation to be brought before the Dáil at the next session. In the interim detailed drafting is continuing and only last week documentation was circulated to stakeholders for their observations.
It is my intention to enact the legislation before the end of this year.
