Vol. 540 No. 2

Written Answers. - Animal Movements.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

113 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when he will remove the embargo on a particular sector of animal sales (details supplied). [20320/01]

The current restrictions on the movement of sheep are being relaxed on an incremental basis having due regard to the disease control risks involved. With effect from 9 July licensed marts may resume sales of breeding ewes and rams, subject to compliance with protocols which are being finalised at present. The question of further relaxation of restrictions on the movement of sheep is being kept under review.
