Ceist:

116 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the dates that the REP scheme appeals committee met since 1 January, giving details of the number of cases finalised at each meeting; the number of appeals which are awaiting a decision, giving details on a county by county basis; and if he will give comparative figures for this time in 2000. The dates on which my Department's REPS appeals committee has met since 1 January and the number of decisions taken on each date are as follows:

There are approximately 430 appeals lodged with the committee. These appeals are either under investigation by my Department's inspectors or are awaiting consideration by the committee. The number of outstanding appeals for individual counties as of 30 June is as follows:

Comparable figures for outstanding appeals for this time last year are not available but the total number of appeals lodged during the first six months of 2000 was 253, compared to 198 appeals lodged to date in 2001. The committee is scheduled to meet three times in July.
