Vol. 540 No. 3

Written Answers. - Health Services.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

123 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance the amounts spent on the health services as a percentage of current Government expenditure; the corresponding figure for such expenditure in 1980; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20738/01]

The Revised Estimates volume provides £5,125 million for the non-capital element of the Health and Children Vote in 2001. This represents 25% of all gross current voted expenditure allocated in this year's Estimates, including expenditure on the social insurance fund. The outturn for the Health Vote in 1980 was £687 million, which represented 21% of the equivalent total voted expenditure.
