Vol. 540 No. 3

Written Answers. - Abortion Referendum.

Jim O'Keeffe

Ceist:

130 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Health and Children if it is intended to have a further referendum on abortion before the general election. [19706/01]

The Cabinet committee of which I am chairman is currently considering the fifth progress report of the all-party Oireachtas Committee on the Constitution, dealing with the issue of abortion. It is not possible at this stage to indicate a timescale for the completion of the committee's work. A decision has not yet been taken on the question of whether there should be a further referendum on abortion.
