Ceist:151 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Health and Children if the qualifications of a person who has been working as a fully qualified psychologist in the Waterford area have been checked by his Department. [20560/01]
Written Answers. - Inspection Qualifications.
I have at present no legal authority to validate the qualifications of any person working as a private practitioner in psychology. My Department is currently working on the introduction of a system of statutory registration for a number of health and social care professions, including psychology. Agreement was reached late last year with the professional bodies representing these professions and heads of a Bill are now being prepared.
