Vol. 540 No. 3

Written Answers. - ACCESS Funding.

Trevor Sargent

Ceist:

242 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands when she will announce the projects which will be approved under ACCESS funding for the period 2001-2004; the significance community projects have in her overall determination and selection procedure in evaluating applicant projects. [20493/01]

The ACCESS programme will have three distinct strands.

New facilities at regional, county and city level. The redevelopment of existing arts and culture facilities and venues including new build, additional build, or major refurbishment. Smaller community based projects.

The committee established by me to assess the applications for funding under the ACCESS programme for the period 2001-2004 has completed its work. I expect to be in a position in the near future to make a determination as to which projects will be approved in principle, subject to the fulfilment of relevant conditions. The proportions in which the projects approved break down between the above strands will be dictated by the merits of each application.
