15 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands when she expects the national heritage plan will be finalised; when she expects to bring proposals to Government; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [20312/01]
I initiated a broad public consultation process in relation to the development of the plan and some 350 submissions were received and assessed. Parallel preparatory work and consultation was undertaken within my Department involving an assessment of the current management of our heritage. The draft plan was circulated to Departments on a consultative basis and their reactions to proposals have been considered. The drafting of the plan is being finalised within my Department and, I hope, after obtaining Government approval, to publish it later this year.
