25 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands if funding has been sought from her Department for the development of the Battle of the Boyne site; the role her Department will play in the development of the site; and if she will make a statement on the matter. An interdepartmental committee is currently considering funding requirements for the long-term development of the site in the light of planning consultants' recommendations. An initial allocation of £150,000 has been made this year in respect of on-going maintenance, management and research. My Department is responsible for the implementation of the development and the operation of the site. I am conscious of the heritage and wider significance of this initiative.
