Vol. 540 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Enterprise Boards.

Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

48 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the level of funding given to each county enterprise board to date in 2001; her views on whether the funding in each case is adequate; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [20648/01]

The budget allocation for the 35 city and county enterprise boards for 2001 is £24.569 million or 431.196 million. The boards draw down funding from my Department on a quarterly basis. In the light of representations made to my Department by various boards, I have recently arranged that the capital expenditure by the boards be increased by 6% this year, as a result of a mid-year review. It is my intention to keep the matter under close review for the remainder of the year and to take such action as is necessary to ensure the enterprise boards continue to discharge their important work in the creation of an enterprise culture and assisting in the setting up and development of new enterprises.
