Vol. 541 No. 2

Written Answers. - Coastal Protection.

John Bruton

Ceist:

196 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the reason no portion of the coastline of County Meath was included in the coast protection programme for 2001. [21010/01]

Primary responsibility for public coastal protection works rests with the relevant local authority. My Department received from Meath County Council a draft report by consulting engineers on coastal protection works from Bettystown to Laytown. My Department has in hand a foreshore application from Meath County Council concerning the proposed works and further details, including the final report by the commission engineers, are awaited.
