In my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 218 of Tuesday, 1 May 2001, I informed the Deputy that all records relating to church temporalities matters, which are relevant in this case, were transferred from records branch in my Department to the National Archives many years ago. Officials from the legal unit of my Department have carried out a further search, in conjunction with officials in the National Archives, in an attempt at locating the file concerned. This search has proven fruitless. As the files relating to this case cannot be located it is open to the parties concerned to make application to the Courts/ Land Registry for a declaration of title by virtue of long possession.
