652 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Health and Children the position regarding the proposal to provide symptomatic breast disease services in the North-Eastern Health Board area; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22516/01]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 413 and 652 together.
As the Deputies are aware, the provision of services in this area is the statutory responsibility of the North-Eastern Health Board in the first instance.
Symptomatic breast disease services for the North-Eastern Health Board are being developed in the context of the report of the sub-group of the National Cancer Forum. Detailed proposals for the development of these services are currently under active consideration by my Department.
