483 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if the national committee to promote breast feeding has been reconvened; the names of the members of this committee; if the La Leche League of Ireland was consulted on the membership and work programme of the committee; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 426, 483 and 520 together.

I wish to assure the Deputy that I am committed to the establishment of a national committee to promote breastfeeding and I hope to be in a position to announce its membership in the next two months. This committee will work with the national breastfeeding co-ordinator, in partnership with relevant stakeholders in the effective implementation of the national breastfeeding policy.
