Vol. 541 No. 2

Written Answers. - Hospital Accommodation.

Denis Naughten

Ceist:

492 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children the average number of patients lying on trolleys in accident and emergency units at each unit throughout the country over the winter period; the average length of stay for patients on these trolleys; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21661/01]

As I have previously advised the Deputy, the information requested by him is not routinely collected by my Department. I also advised him that my Department had requested the regional chief executive of the Eastern Regional Health Authority – ERHA – and the chief executive officers of the health boards to compile the information requested and forward it to him directly.

My Department has been advised that the information has been furnished or is in the process of being supplied to the Deputy by the ERHA and each of the Health Boards.
