593 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he proposes to introduce a system of arbitration as a means of tightening the existing disciplinary procedures contained in the 1997 common contract for consultants. [22095/01]
Discussions on a review of the current hospital consultants' contract have commenced. Issues surrounding the question of the disciplinary code, including appropriate grievance and dispute procedures, will form part of these discussions.
