Vol. 541 No. 2

Written Answers. - Housing Aid for the Elderly.

Liam Aylward

Ceist:

684 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will arrange to have additional finance made available to the South-Eastern Health Board towards the housing aid for the elderly scheme. [21179/01]

John McGuinness

Ceist:

697 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will give a special allocation of funds to the South-Eastern Health Board under the housing aid for the elderly scheme; and if the extra funding required will be made available immediately. [21616/01]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 684 and 697 together.

A total of £950,000 for the operation of the scheme was allocated to the South-Eastern Health Board for 2001 compared to £812,000 for 2000. It is a matter for the board to apportion funding to each community area and to determine, within the allocation, the priority of individual cases on hands. The overall provision for the scheme in 2001 has been fully allocated and no additional funding is available in this current year.
