Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.
I have approved Carlow County Council's tender recommendation for the supply network contract for this scheme and it is now a matter for the council to progress these works to construction. The council's tender recommendation for the water treatment element of the scheme is currently under examination in my Department.

Ceist:755 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the situation regarding the Arklow sewerage scheme, County Wicklow; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22492/01]
The Arklow sewerage scheme is included in my Department's water services investment programme, 2000-2002, as a scheme to commence construction in 2001. The granting of planning permission for the proposed sewage treatment works is currently the subject of High Court proceedings and a third-party appeal to An Bord Pleanála. Further progress with the scheme is dependent on the outcome of these proceedings.

Ceist:756 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the situation regarding the Blessington water scheme, County Wicklow; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22493/01]
The Blessington and west Wicklow water supply scheme, estimated to cost £10 million, 12.7 million, is included in my Department's water services investment programme as a scheme to advance through planning. I understand that consultants have been appointed by Wicklow County Council to prepare a preliminary report for submission to my Department for approval in due course.
