Vol. 541 No. 2

Written Answers. - Investigative Officers.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

800 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the number of investigative officers employed full-time in County Mayo; and the number of those who work flexi-time, part-time or job-share. [21559/01]

Michael Ring

Ceist:

801 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs if, when social investigators in County Mayo take time off on annual leave, flexi-time or job-sharing, the officers are replaced or if there is a break-down in the continuation of work. [21560/01]

It is proposed to take Questions Nos. 800 and 801 together.

Seventeen of the Department's staff in County Mayo are engaged on investigative duties. Of these, 15 work on a full-time basis, two are job sharing and there are none working on a part-time basis or on flexi-time. Job sharing is, in effect, two people sharing one full-time post on an equal basis and the question of providing replacement staff does not, therefore, arise. As in the case of all other employees, cover for investigative staff who are absent on annual leave is arranged by local management so as to ensure that service to the public is maintained.
