Written Answers. - Registration of Title.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

855 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will instruct the Land Registry office to expedite a section 49 application for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [21143/01]

I am informed by the Registrar of Titles that this dealing refers to an application under section 49 – acquisition of title by virtue of long possession – of the Registration of Title Act, 1964 which was lodged on 9 April 2001. I am further informed that a reply to the queries of 21 August 2001 was received on 25 September 2001. I understand that due to their complicated nature, applications under section 49 which require detailed examination of claims for registration as owners can take some time to process. Accordingly, although it is not possible to estimate a precise completion date at this stage, I can assure the Deputy that the matter is receiving attention.
