Vol. 541 No. 2

Written Answers. - Garda Investigations.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

878 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 416 of 3 July 2001, he will detail the outcome of Garda investigations into the illegal usage of the premises concerned. [21416/01]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that, as a result of investigations by the Garda Síochána at Bridewell Garda station, a portion of the premises in question was searched by warrant under section 24 of the Licensing Act on 31 July 2001 and that a quantity of alcohol was seized. I understand that, as a result of this intervention, the owners have removed a sub-tenant of the premises. I also understand that since then there has been no evidence of illegal drink ing or excessive noise levels, nor have complaints been received by the Garda Síochána from residents with regard to the premises in question. I am assured by the Garda authorities that attention will continue to be paid to this area.
