Vol. 541 No. 2

Written Answers. - Land Registry Personnel.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

921 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of persons who deal with land registration and land commission schedules; and the number of persons assigned to deal with each county. [22163/01]

I am informed by Land Registry Management that the Land Registry is organised on a regional basis. Each region deals with the registration of land, including the registration of Land Commission schedules, and records and public counter services in a number of counties:

Region 1 deals with registration for counties Galway, Clare, Roscommon, Sligo and Mayo. There are currently 82.5 staff assigned to this region.

Region 2 deals with registration for county Dublin. There are currently 77 staff assigned to this region.

Region 3 deals with the registration for counties Meath, Westmeath, Louth, Longford, Leitrim, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal. There are currently 108 staff assigned to this region.

Region 4A deals with registration for county Cork. There are currently 52 staff assigned to this region.

Region 4B deals with registration for counties Limerick, Waterford and Kerry. There are currently 48 staff assigned to this region.

Region 5A deals with registration for counties Tipperary, Laois, Offaly, Carlow, Kilkenny and Wexford. There are currently 59.5 staff assigned to this region.

Region 5B deals with registration for counties Kildare and Wicklow and ground rents applications for all counties. There are currently 44 staff assigned to this region.

I understand in addition to this there are 15 examiners of titles and a further 8 staff involved in the registration process who service all counties. I have been informed by Land Registry Management that the authorised staffing number for the organisation includes staff for the Registry of Deeds and for administration and support areas within the Registries.
