977 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the amount of funding spent on the provision of sport and recreation facilities since the national lottery was initiated in 1987 up to 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21851/01]

The total allocation for the provision of sport and recreation facilities under the national lottery funded sports capital programme from 1988, when national lottery funding commenced, up to 2001 was £160.6 million. The year by year breakdown of this figure is as follows:
