1055 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received an application for a second youth worker for Mullingar youth community project; if he will ensure that favourable consideration is given to this proposal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21503/01]
My Department has received an application for a second youth worker for Mullingar youth community project. The application was considered by my Department but it was not found possible to accede to the request this year, having regard to the funding available and to the high level of existing commitments in the youth sector. A renewed application for funding in 2002 may be submitted to my Department and this application will be given full consideration in the context of available funds for youth work services.
