Ceist:1090 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will report on the request for the appointment of a second deputy principal for Loreto secondary school, Balbriggan, County Dublin; and when a decision will be made. [21743/01]
I propose to take Questions Nos. 1060 and 1090 together.
My Department allocates a second deputy principal post, on an ex-quota basis, to second level schools in the free education scheme with enrolments of 1,000 or more pupils or to designated disadvantaged schools with enrolments of 900 or more pupils. As the school in question does not satisfy these requirements, it does not qualify for the allocation of a second deputy principal post in the current school year. There are no plans in my Department at present to alter the requirements for the allocation of a second deputy principal post.
