1066 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will give final approval for the upgrading and refurbishing of a home economics room in a secondary school (details supplied) in Dublin 3; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21533/01]
The school to which the Deputy refers has made an application to my Department for the refurbishment of its home economics room and for the provision of a second home economics room. A consultant was appointed to prepare a report on the upgrading and refurbishment of the existing home economics room. This report has recently been received and is currently being examined by staff in the building unit of my Department. A response will issue to the school shortly. The planning section of my Department is currently reviewing the long-term projected enrolment of the school with a view to assessing the school's need for a second home economics room.
