1069 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will list the names and locations of the schools whose applications under the guidance enhancement initiative for second level schools were successful; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21608/01]
The objective of the guidance enhancement initiative is to develop innovative ways of enhancing guidance through promoting links between schools, business, voluntary and State agencies and increasing the uptake of science subjects. All second level schools were invited to submit proposals for an allocation of career guidance posts under the initiative. The posts were allocated in accordance with agreed criteria on the recommendations of a selection panel involving experts in the field of guidance and project management. A total of 103 schools will benefit directly from the 50 posts allocated under the initiative. I have arranged to have a list of the names and locations of the successful applicant schools forwarded to the Deputy.
