My Department allocates special needs assistants to cater for the assessed needs of special needs pupils attending ordinary second level schools. An application for the allocation of a special needs assistant must be submitted by the authorities of the school concerned. Each application is considered on its merits. If an application is received in respect of the person referred to by the Deputy, it will be processed as speedily as possible by my Department.
