Vol. 543 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Dan Neville

Ceist:

263 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a suckler cow premium payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick. [26404/01]

The person named applied on 36 cows and seven heifers under the 2001 suckler cow premium scheme. Following an examination of his application it was found that one animal, tag number MZA835942, did not have a required date of last calving. My Department wrote to the person named on 25 September 2001 and again on 10 October 2001 concerning this matter. A reply was received on 16 October but on further examination the date of last calving given did not match our records, which showed no calving details registered for this animal on the cattle movement monitoring system. My Department wrote to the person named again on 17 October advising that in order to avoid any further delay in the processing of the application the details should be registered as soon as possible or to submit a letter from his veterinary surgeon with details of calving, if the cow had a calf which died at birth. A reply from the person named is awaited.

268 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if an area-based payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim. [26455/01]

One of the parcels claimed by the person named in his 2001 area aid application overlaps with a parcel of land claimed by another applicant. The area aid unit is currently seeking to clarify the correct entitlements to area aid and have arranged to have an inspection carried out as soon as possible in order to ascertain the exact area of the land of the person named. No payment under the 2001 area-based compensatory allowance scheme will issue to the person named until the matter is resolved.

275 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if he will waive or reduce the penalties imposed on an application for area aid by a person (details supplied) in County Sligo; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26489/01]

The person named requested a review on medical grounds of the application of a 100% area aid late application penalty and he submitted a medical certificate to support his appeal. This review has now been completed and his 2001 area aid application has been accepted without late penalty.

The area aid application for the person named has now been processed and payment due under the 2001 area-based compensatory allowance scheme will issue shortly.
