428 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 165 of 25 October 2001, he will give details and locations of the nine legionnaire's disease cases notified in 2000, and the four cases notified to date in 2001. [26504/01]

Nine cases of legionnaire's disease were notified in Ireland in 2000. Seven cases were notified by the Eastern Regional Health authority, one by the Mid-Western Health Board and one by the Southern Health Board. Six of the nine cases were male and three were female. Three cases were over 65 years of age, three were in the 45-64 age group, two in the 25-44 years age group and one in the 15-19 year age group. Five of the nine cases were associated with foreign travel.

Of the four cases of legionnaire's disease notified to date in 2001, two were notified by the Eastern Regional Health Authority, one by the Southern Health Board and one by the Western Health Board. Three cases were male and one was female. The breakdown by age was as follows; two were in the 25-44 years age group and two in the 45-64 years age group. Two of the four cases were associated with foreign travel.
