573 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the extent to which car dismantling firms have required waste permits; and the efforts being made by his Department to ensure that all such firms acquire waste permits. [27012/01]
In accordance with the Waste Management (Permit) Regulations, 1998, the performance of a vehicle dismantling or recovery activity requires a waste permit from the local authority in whose functional area the activity takes place. The enforcement of these regulations is a matter for local authorities.
