Vol. 543 No. 2

Written Answers. - Sports Capital Programme.

David Stanton

Ceist:

722 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the amount of money allocated per county for each of the past three years to the 2001 sports capital programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26694/01]

In the past three years the Government has allocated grants of more than £100 million – 127 million – to 1,798 projects throughout the country under the national lottery-funded sports capital programme administered by my Department. This funding has helped provide a greatly improved network of high qual ity facilities for all levels and types of sport. A breakdown of the grants allocated under the sports capital programme in each county from 1999 to 2001 is attached for the Deputy's information.

David Stanton

Ceist:

723 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation the marks obtained by each applicant in the assessment process in order of priority in County Cork with reference to the 2001 sports capital programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26696/01]

Following the public advertising of the 2001 sports capital programme more than 1,450 applications were received. All of the applications were assessed in accordance with assessment criteria outlined in the Guidelines, Terms and Conditions governing the programme. A total of £44.2 million – 56.2 million – was allocated to 703 projects in 2001 under the programme.

Every applicant organisation, including those in County Cork, subsequently received correspondence from my Department in relation to the assessment of their application. Those organisations being allocated a grant were advised on requirements and procedures for the drawdown of their grants and in accordance with established practice each of the individual unsuccessful applicants was given a copy of their respective assessment sheet including scores and explanatory comments, where appropriate, under each of the criteria used in assessing the applications.

Michael Creed

Ceist:

724 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation when his Department will be inviting applications from sporting bodies for grant aid under the recreational amenity grant scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26786/01]

I intend to announce details of the 2002 sports capital programme within the next few weeks.
