Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Healy – the need to properly finance and staff the housing aid for the elderly scheme; (2) Deputy Gormley – the need to provide adequate resources to those agencies charged with responsibility for devising road safety policy and implementing practical measures to enhance policy safety; (3) Deputy Deenihan – the condition of the prefab classroom at Curranes national school, Castleisland, County Kerry, and the need to have the proposed extension to the school commenced as soon as possible; (4) Deputy Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) – the dispute in Carlow between Greencore and the Irish Farmers Association and the serious threat to employment; (5) Deputy Creed – the delay in the school building project in County Cork; (6) Deputy Clune – the decision by the Supreme Court that Cork Corporation cannot discriminate against those who have not paid service charges when collecting refuse; (7) Deputy Dukes – the issue of the dispute between sugar beet growers and Greencore plc which has halted sugar processing; (8) Deputy Coveney – the measures required to control street violence in our towns and cities; and (9) Deputy Rabbitte – the reason education welfare officers have not been appointed for the Tallaght area.

The matters raised by Deputies Deenihan, Creed, Healy and Coveney have been selected for discussion.
