Vol. 543 No. 5

Written Answers. - Garda Investigations

Deirdre Clune

Ceist:

448 Ms Clune asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 5 of 12 April 2001, he has received a report from the Garda on the matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27732/01]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Priority Question No. 5 of 12 April 2001 concerning the case referred to by the Deputy. As I outlined in my reply the circumstances surrounding the disposal of the vehicle involved in the accident is the subject of an investigation under Garda Síochána disciplinary regulations. I am further informed that the Garda Síochána is not yet in a position to submit the final report on this matter as the investigation has not been completed. I appreciate the pain and suffering to the family of the victim caused by this tragic accident. My Department will continue to keep the Deputy informed of progress in this matter and as soon as the final Garda report is to hand I will communicate further with the Deputy.
