Vol. 543 No. 5

Written Answers. - FÁS Training Programmes.

Emmet Stagg

Ceist:

161 Mr. Stagg asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the number of people being trained as supervisors in each FÁS region; the cost of training each individual; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [27592/01]

Details regarding the training of community employment (CE) supervisors on a region-by-region basis are not readily available. However, approximately 200 newly appointed supervisors commenced the training programme for CE supervisors within the last 12 months. The cost of training a newly appointed supervisor is approximately £2,400 per supervisor. Training for existing supervisors, who have previously completed supervisor training and may require a refresher course to update their skills and knowledge of recent changes to the programme, commenced in September 2001 and is ongoing.

The information requested by the Deputy is being collated by FÁS and will be provided to him directly as soon as possible.
