Written Answers. - Prisoner Transfers.
The person concerned has applied for transfer to serve the balance of his sentence here under the Council of Europe Convention on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons. Following consideration of the application by my Department and by our legal advisors, I consented to this transfer in July 2001. My Department subsequently received the final consent of the person concerned from the United Kingdom authorities in October of this year. Our legal advisors are currently preparing the papers for an application to the High Court for a warrant authorising the person's transfer and continued detention in this jurisdiction. I expect that the application will be completed shortly.
