Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a number of notices under Standing Order 31 dealing with three different topics. I propose to deal with these topics separately and will call on Deputies in the order in which they submitted their notices to my office. In regard to the first topic, I call on Deputy McGinley to state the matter.
Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.
I seek the Adjournment of Dáil Éireann under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the grave financial situation at RTE and the developments announced by the RTE Authority in the past week.
Having considered the matter fully I do not consider it to be in accordance with Standing Order 31.
In regard to the second topic, I have received notice from Deputy Gay Mitchell and call on him to state the matter.
I give notice of my intention to seek the Adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to consider an urgent and important matter of public concern, namely, the proposal by the Minister for Health and Children to increase the cost of a private bed by 15%, thereby pushing up voluntary health insurance premia for the third time this year, this time by as much as 4%, bringing the increase by one company to almost 20%, and to seek an urgent statement from the Minister on this important issue.
Having considered the matter fully I do not consider it to be in accordance with Standing Order 31.
In regard to the third topic, I have received notice from Deputies Sargent and Healy and call first on Deputy Sargent to state the matter.
I request that Dáil Éireann be adjourned under Standing Order 31 to highlight the low standards being applied by the Government in proposing to allow mobile telephone masts to be erected without planning permission.
I now call on Deputy Healy to state the matter.
I seek the Adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of urgent importance, namely, the need for the Minister for the Environment and Local Government to explain his decision to exempt the erection of masts by mobile telephone companies from planning permission on public, commercial and industrial buildings.
Having considered the matter fully I do not consider it to be in accordance with Standing Order 31.
