Written Answers. - Departmental Properties.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

66 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education and Science if he, or his officials, have had discussion with the Eastern Regional Health Authority, Dublin Institute of Technology or other bodies concerning plans for the Eastern Regional Health Authority site at Grangegorman; if so, the purpose and nature of these discussions; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27463/01]

Officials of my Department form part of an interdepartmental working group which is examining how best to ensure that the strategic location and potential of the Eastern Regional Health Authority site at Grangegorman is unlocked to best meet the Government's objectives in the provision of high quality health and education services.

The working group comprises representatives from my Department, the Departments of Health and Children, Environment and Local Government, Public Enterprise, Taoiseach and Finance, as well as representatives of the Eastern Regional Health Authority, Dublin Institute of Technology and Dublin Corporation. Six meetings of this working group have taken place to date.

I have been informed that the group should be able to complete its work and submit a report to Government in the near future.
