Written Answers. - Fishing Industry Development.
The fishing industry is currently characterised by a shortage of labour and there are a range of employment opportunities in the industry. BIM's training programmes for the sector are supporting and encouraging new entrants as well as providing ongoing training for existing players. Comprehensive investment and development strategies for the seafood sector going forward have been clearly set out under the national development plan and are being progressed under a number of operational programmes. I am forwarding to the Deputy our publication which details the measures relating to marine and natural resources under the NDP which includes all measures in place to develop the seafood sector.
